Semi Permanent is a design even that brings together designers from all over the globe to exhibit their works over a number of interesting events.
Semi Permanent aims to cultivate collaboration between designers and offer insights into the design industry by holding talks and information sessions for attendees.
This three-day event is run all over the globe, and returns to Sydney each year where over 400,000 people come to join. There are typically over 50 events scheduled each year, with over 800 artists, speakers sand creators getting involved. There are a number of live events, installations, exhibitions and displays which aim to inspire the community with unique designs.
New ideas, products and technology are presented during this event and a range of interesting speakers offer talks on their experiences in design. In past years, famous speakers have included Director Oliver Stone, the design team from Apple, Facebook photographers, the design head of MONA gallery and non-profit conservation group Sea-Shepherd. There is so much variety, and the line-up changes each year offering something different to attendees.
The talks and exhibitions are typically ticketed events. The main events are scheduled at Carriageworks which is located near Sydney University. Parking is available at the university, Seymour Centre and a little further away at Australian Technology Park. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
Carriageworks is also easily accessible using public transport. Take a train to Redfern Station or opt for a bus and alight at Codrington Street close to the Sydney University.
