Enmore Theatre

Enmore Theatre is Sydney’s epicentre for arts and live performances – a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy Sydney’s nightlife and culture.

This theatre and entertainment venue was opened in 1908 and is the longest-running venue for live music across the state.

One of the most distinct aspects of the theatre is its unique Art Deco style, which has earned it a place on the Historic Buildings Register. For this reason, the theatre’s structure is of great social significance for the Enmore community.

Many Australia comedy acts have performed at the theatre, including famous shows such as Lano and Woodley, Carl Barron, as well as Merrick and Rosso. In addition to comedy, the theatre is a renowned space for kids’ entertainment, including acts such as Lah-Lah, The Wiggles and Justine Clarke.

The Enmore Theatre has also hosted a variety of global icons who have performed on its stage. These include The Rolling Stones, Marilyn Manson, Brandy, and the Grizzly Bear. Many of these shows have sold out, stamping the Enmore’s position in the theatrical and entertainment industry.

There are three licensed bars on site, with snacks, refreshments, soft drinks, and alcohol available. A current driver’s license, passport, or valid ID is required for the purchase of alcohol.

Generally, all backpacks and large bags must be checked in the cloakroom at a small fee and subject to availability. Parking is also available within the theatre, but these slots are only available with prior booking. Other parking spaces are available in the communal council areas, and for people with limited mobility or who require wheelchair access, don’t hesitate to contact the box office.

The Enmore Theatre can be accessed by both private and public means. It is just a few minutes’ walk from Newtown Train Station. Taxis are also readily available on Enmore Road, and bus routes 423, 426, and 428 stop right outside the theatre.
