Mardi Gras Film Festival

The Queer Screen film festival is one of the biggest LGBT film events in Australia, with the 15-day-long celebration aiming to raise awareness of sexual diversities and gender identities through queer film.

Taking place in February & March in 2022, the festival showcases films, shorts, and documentaries across a wide range of LGBTIQ angles.

Mardi Gras Film Festival 2023 Dates, Program & Movie Prices, Sydney

There are over dozens of creative works to enjoy from Australia, as well as many countries around the world. Aside from the movies, the opening night is something to look forward to and other programs that change each year. Festival passes are available in bundles of 5 or 10, ideal for sharing with friends and family.

From sweeping romances to gripping documentaries, and everything in between, the organisers can’t wait to welcome queer audiences back to cinemas. And because they also love how streaming means we can share stories from our community far and wide, they’ll continue to offer some On Demand screenings at MGFF22. It’s the best of both worlds!

Do you have what it takes to publicly pitch your short-film project with passion and conviction? Pitch Off offers Australian LGBTIQ+ filmmakers up to $10,000 of funding towards the production of a short film (narrative, documentary or a stand-alone web series pilot) dealing with the experiences of people of diverse genders and sexualities.

Mark January 12 on your calendar as that’s when the full line-up will be revealed!
