The Annual Sydney International Bachata Festival is the largest Bachata dance festival and concert in Australia, and the first ever festival dedicated to this dance. Local and international dancers perform world-class shows over three days and four nights, and it also includes an urban Bachata concert as well as three days of dancing workshops for individuals interested in learning Bachata or other Latin dances.
The official venue for the event is at the Rooty Hill RSL, where the shows are held until 4AM during event nights. This venue is also where all the parties, after parties, and workshops will take place. It features state-of-the-art stages and dance floors. Rooty Hill’s 4.5-star lodging can accommodate up to four people in a room, ideal for visitors who are traveling to Sydney for the show.
The Welcome Party is held on the first night of the event. The entire evening is filled with activities including dinner, a show from national dance artists, workshops, a Latin dance party, performances and live music. However, access to the Welcome Party isn’t included in the full pass, so those interested in attending will need to purchase separate tickets. Additionally, if you’d like to dine with national and international artists, you’ll also need to have a dinner booking which may be obtained at restaurants of the Rooty Hill RSL.
The event attracts individuals who are passionate about the Bachata dance, and it’s the perfect opportunity to learn about it from the talented international instructors who travel to Sydney for the show. Other dances you can learn at the workshop include Kizomba, Zouk, Samba, and Reggaeton, among others. There are workshops available for beginners to advanced level dancers, with special Master Workshops available although this isn’t included in the full pass. Master Workshops require a separate registration, and is only available in limited numbers.
The Annual Sydney International Bachata Festival is famous in the international dance community, which makes it a highly anticipated event each year. Many of the instructors and performers come all the way from the Dominican Republic, home to the most talented Bachateros. The festival is supported by Latin dance schools throughout Australia; if you’d like your school to participate in the event, you will need to follow the process detailed on the Performers Registration page in the website.
Rooty Hill is located at 55 Sherbrooke Street, Rooty Hill, New South Wales, Australia. Be sure to check out the programme of events before the show and RSVP.
