Australian Boardriders Battle is an event held in Cronulla Beach by Surfing Australia and is officially sanctioned by the World Surf League.
This allows Australian WSL Championship Tour male and female surfers the opportunity to represent their local boardriders club at state qualifying events and for a chance at the national final.
The Australian Boardriders Battle is Australia’s biggest boardriders event and involves more than 60 of Australia’s best boardrider clubs from around the nation. Taking place across eight state qualifying rounds, the final 24 clubs will come together at the National Final in Newcastle to battle it out to see who takes the title of Australian Champions. Up for grabs at the event is over $150,000 in cash and prizes for participants, so its sure to be a competitive and exciting event.
The initial intention of the completion and Australian Boardriders Battle program is to build on the established community of boardriders clubs Australia-wide. In the events past years, Surfing Australia has invested over $600,000 into the boardriders clubs as part of the events. All bboardriders clubs across Australia are encouraged to participate in the event.
It is important to note that State entries to the Australian Boardriders Battle close one week prior to each State scheduled event and nominated team lists are to be sent to the State Branch a minimum of two days prior to each State qualifying event.
Aside from the main event, there is plenty on around Cronulla to entertain spectators. If visitors are feeling hungry they can grab a bite to eat at one of the nearby food vans or local restaurants.
