Haymarket’s history dates back to the early 20th century when most of the city’s markets were in the region. Most markets moved, and only Paddy’s Market remained on location. Today, Paddy’s is a flea and produce market that makes for a fantastic destination.

With hundreds of stalls to explore, you can shop for just about anything – from shoes to seafood, souvenirs to stylish clothes and even plants! The other shopping options are Market City, home to markets, entertainment joints, apartments, and a modern retail centre. The food court on level 1 serves various cuisines, including Taiwanese, Thai, Japanese and Chinese!

Alternatively, explore the World Square Shopping Centre, a vibrant retail, cultural, and entertainment destination. Home to close to 100 retail stores, the centre spans more than three levels of the city block. A trip to this shopping centre is incomplete without experiencing the tranquillity at Open Air Square.

While at Haymarket, make sure you check out elegant souvenirs and precious jewellery from Melewah Jewellery. Founded in 1983, this store takes great pride in crafting jewellery with perfection.

One of the most popular attractions in Haymarket is Sydney’s Chinatown. This urban locality, on Dixon Street, is the biggest Chinatown in the country and abounds with Chinese shops and restaurants.

A reliable transport network services Haymarket, with Central Railway Station on the southern border. The region is also serviced by the Dulwich Hill Line on the city’s light rail network. This makes it easy to immerse yourself in all of Haymarket’s attractions for memorable vacations in one of Sydney’s most amazing locations.
