Edgecliff

Edgecliff is a tiny suburb located in the Eastern side of Sydney; four kilometres from the CBD. The suburb, which makes up part of the state of New South Wales, has its local government area in the Municipality of Woollahra.

Some of the neighbouring suburbs include Darling Point, Rushcutters Bay, Paddington and Woollahra. The suburb’s proximity to the city makes it one of the most expensive in the state.

The suburb got its name from its location as it is perched at the edge of a cliff, with sweeping views to boot. The cliff was quarried in the early days following the settlement of Europeans and has since maintained its appearance.

Getting around the suburb is pretty easy as it has a reliable transport system. Take train rides to and from Edgecliff railway station. The underground station, which was opened in 1979, is an integral part of Edgecliff. Trains are quite frequent, which works well during peak hours. For those who prefer the bus to train rides, a bus interchange is located right above the train station.

Are you wondering where to enjoy retail therapy? Look no further than The Edgecliff Centre, a commercial centre with proximity to transport services. Edgecliff Eastpoint, on the other hand, is located right above the train station, making it the most convenient place to shop and explore. For all your grocery and market needs, visit Gourmet Life, home to a fine foods delicatessen or opt for Deli Cucina located on New South Head Road. Coles is also an ideal choice.

Treat your palate to delicious treats at The Lab Cafe or go for meals on the go at Zena’s. Prefer fine dining? Go for Japanese cuisine at Maziko or explore Indian delicacies at the Flavour of India Edgecliff. With an innovative twist of Swiss and Italian cuisine, Bei Amici does not disappoint.

Owing to its small size, things to do in Edgecliff typically spill over to its neighbouring suburbs. So, whether you would love to discover the Sydney Jewish Museum, or prefer to enjoy the sun, sand and sea at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, this suburb makes for a delightful place to visit.
