Double Bay is a magnificent harbourside suburb located east of Sydney, about four kilometres from the CBD.

The suburb also serves as the administrative centre of Municipality of Woollahra, its local government area.

The suburb, whose name is inspired by the bay at the iconic Sydney Harbour, is renowned for its expensive real estate. This inclusion of the term ‘double’ refers to the dual rock formations at Darling Point and Point Piper. Interestingly, it’s also referred to as ‘Double Pay’, a term that was used to describe the upper class’s high income.

This has influenced the suburb’s shopping scene with high-end labels doting Double Bay’s many streets. Browse through the leafy retail streets and treat yourself after a well-deserved vacation. Check out Jan Logan’s design jewellery and join the club of celebrities who have adorned stunning pieces from the store.

Do you love the good life? Then Adrienne and Misses Bonney store is open just for you. Globally renowned for elegant wear, intimate gifts and prestigious accessories, this store is a treasured gem for many who tour the suburb. Just be prepared to splurge as most of the items here are available for a pretty penny.

In addition to this, most of the suburb’s boutiques are located on Cross, Bay and Knox Streets. There are also several arcades present. A fresh produce market is held weekly within Guilfoyle Park. Since shopping is incomplete without food, enjoy meals at any of the suburb’s cafes and restaurants. Indigo is an excellent place for anyone who wants to enjoy lunch on the go.

The Stillery located at The Intercontinental serves some of the best drinks in the city, so this is also the perfect place to get fine wine that has been locally produced. Head out to Redleaf Beach, an idyllic place to relax away from the city’s business. The beach is also home to Redleaf Pool Cafe from where you can indulge in your favourite foods with gorgeous views. For the nature lover, Clark Island will also be worth your while.

So, whether you would like to shop for exquisite jewellery, get hand-made dolls or sample food and wine, Double Bay is a tidy place to visit.
