Bronte is one of Sydney’s leafy suburbs and a popular beach-side destination for adventure seekers.

The suburb is located seven kilometres from the CBD, within the local government area of Waverly Council. Its location on the Nelson Bay affords its proximity to the lush Bronte Park.

The suburb’s history has been linked to a man, Mortimer Lewis who owned large tracts of land in the mid-19th century. Lewis, who was the then colonial architect, constructed his palatial house and named it Bronte House after a town located in Italy. Presently, the single storey house is on the Register of the National Estate.

It is leased to private tenants who in turn open the house to the public for a couple of days each year. History buffs who appreciate learning more about the suburbs history will enjoy a tour of the iconic Bronte House.

Enjoy the quintessential Sydney experience when you visit Bronte Beach. Home to vibrant surfing culture, this is the perfect destination to enjoy sun, sand and sea all year round. The east-facing beach features swells from any direction, and this works out great for surfers. Look out for the Bronte Surf Lifesaving Club, arguably the oldest surf lifesaving club across the world.

The rocks at the beach create a sheltered natural pool that is a favourite for families with small children. As the kids enjoy frolicking in the water, adults have the opportunity to take a dip in the lap pool nearby. With free entry, there is no reason not to indulge in some swimming. Other amenities at the beach include BBQs, picnic tables and grassy sections to roll and play.

The proximal Bronte Park has ample space to host family meetings and is a pet-friendly location. What’s more, it is close to many of Bronte’s charming cafes where one can enjoy a meal on the go. Other attractions include The Gallery Shop that displays indigenous forms of art, Waverley Cemetery which provides a place for solitude and reflection, as well as the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk.
