Murrumbateman is a three-hour drive south-west of the Sydney CBD via the M31. It’s about 30 minutes from Canberra so you can fly there or catch public transport (buses or trains) as well.
The Murrumbateman Moving Feast is a unique culinary event that features a moving degustation showcasing world-class local wines and tasting plates. It takes place every October during the long weekend.
As one of the region’s best events for foodies, the best wineries from Murrumbateman participate by offering a main tasting dish and/or dessert which is thoughtfully matched with one of their bestselling wines. Attendees are given complimentary wine and a wine glass with their dish.
The event is held on a Saturday and Sunday, from 10AM to 5PM. It costs between $20 and $25 to attend, with entrees starting at $25. The Murrumbateman Moving Feast is celebrated in participating Murrumbateman wineries and venues around town. To make the most out of the event, attendees are encouraged to sample the different offerings at the various venues throughout the weekend. Past participating wineries have included McKellar Ridge Wines, Four Winds Vineyard, Gallagher Wines, Barton Estate, and the Vintners Daughter among others.
Murrumbateman is known for its rolling vineyards and internationally acclaimed wines. It’s situated 296 km southwest of Sydney, and getting here takes three hours on the Hume Motorway.
