The Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim is a popular competition that runs from Bondi Beach, around Mackenzie’s Point and down to Bronte Beach.
The distance covered is between 2.1 – 2.4kms (dependent on conditions) and hundreds of competitors take part every year.
There are a number of courses available with the Bay Swim (2kms), the Junior Ocean Swim (400m and 800m). There are prizes for the winners with $500 cash to the 1st male and female elite category winners and $500 cash to the 1st male and female dash for cash winners. Registrations can be taken on the day, however there is a limit of 2,500 competitors overall. The minimum age for competitors is 13 years.
For competitors wanting to take park, there are security areas at the finish line where you can leave your belongings before making your way up to the start line. Alternatively, there are tags handed out where you can put your details on your belongings and they will be transported to the finish line for you. Registrations close 30 minutes prior to the starting time of the first race, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to the starting line.
Spectators can view the race along the coastal walk via the Bronte to Bondi Coastal Walk. You can choose to view the competitors at the start line or the finish line. There is plenty of metered parking at Bondi Beach as well as paid parking at Bronte Beach car park. Alternatively, you can catch public transport to Bronte Beach via the NEW 440 bus service to Central Railway Station via Bondi Junction Railway Station. Alternatively, catch a train to Bondi Junction Station which is located at the end of the Eastern Suburbs railway line.
There will be refreshments available at the Bronte Kiosk where you can buy sandwiches, cold drinks and snacks.
