Rally Australia is an annual automobile rally event held at the Coffs Coast in northern New South Wales. It’s one of the world’s biggest and most challenging motorsport events in the world.
The event is known for its unpredictable, dramatic, and spectacular nature. Rally cars race individually against the clock on stages devised out of public roads. The entire rally is comprised of around 20 stages throughout several days. The rally crews are made up of a drive and co-driver, who acts as a navigator. The crews earn points depending on their finishing position, while the champion goes to the crew who earned the most points at the end of the season.
It attracts elite drivers to compete in constantly-changing conditions, which is what makes this rally so exciting. It’s garnered a handful of prestigious awards through the years. The rally is controlled and regulated by the Federation Internationale de L’Autombile (FIA), the governing organization for motorsports worldwide.
Rally Australia is televised worldwide, thanks to coverage from traditional media and television. There are around 250 representatives from global media outlets who attend the event. It’s one of the 13 events that make up the FIA World Rally Championship, highlighting the beautiful setting of the Coffs Coast to television viewers and spectators.

Additionally, several free attractions will be provided throughout the event. The primary free attraction is the service park, where both kids and adults can see how mechanics do their work on rally cars following the action. Food and drink will be available as well. Be sure to make it to the Thursday event to catch the Opening Ceremony that takes place at the Coffs Harbour Jetty. Friday to Sunday will be filled with world-class rallying, finishing up with a traditional champagne spray on the last stage located at the NSW Forests Rally Village.
