One of the most popular attractions in the suburb is the state heritage-listed Waverley Cemetery. First opened to the public in 1877, Waverley Cemetery is home to a vast collection of monuments and memorials. It is the resting place for many who helped shape Sydney’s history. More than 80,000 people have been interred here, signifying the cemetery’s importance in the suburb. The cemetery is accessible using Saint Thomas Street.

In addition to the cemetery, other heritage-listed buildings that are a must-visit for history buffs; Edina is one such building. The grand mansion, which boasts the Victorian style, was completed in 1884 and has since undergone restoration to maintain its charm. Other heritage buildings that you can visit in Waverley include Witchagil, the Nellie Vickery Memorial Chapel, as well as Banskia. Together, these buildings constitute the War Memorial Hospital.

While Waverley is mostly a residential area, it does have a shopping strip located at the road junction; known as Charing Cross. This strip offers an opportunity to shop for just about everything, from homewares to fashion accessories.
