Ryde is a Sydney suburb located just 13 kilometres from the CBD, and which serves as the local government area of the City of Ryde. It makes up part of the scenic Northern Suburbs region.

Ryde is home to some historic buildings, many of which were built in the 19th century and have since been preserved. One of the most popular ones is Addington House, also referred to as the ‘New Farm’. This sandstone cottage is thought to have been built at the turn of the 19th century, circa 1800. Other heritage buildings include Willandra; a two-storey home built around 1845 and the police station located on Willandra Street.
