Melbourne Religious

Sydney is a vibrant multicultural city, and because of this, features many different religions. As an interdenominational location, its residents are tolerant and this allows visitors to gel in well regardless of their religious beliefs. While the main religion in Sydney is Christianity, in addition to churches, there are many other religious places in Sydney. Below are key religious places in Sydney.

St Mary’s Cathedral is a majestic piece of work that was constructed in 1821, and has since become a significant place of worship. Its outstanding ornate décor makes it one of the most resplendent religious places in the city. The church is located at the corner of St Marys & College Road with daily services and mass on weekends.

St Andrews Cathedral on the other hand, is a place of worship for those who ascribe to the Anglican Church of Australia. Its distinct design and high ceilings not only make it a well-known place of worship, but also add to its majestic appearance. Services are held on Sunday and through the week with the Asian Bible Church at 2pmon Sundays.

The Great Synagogue caters for the Jewish community, and is located on 166 Castleraegh Street. Services are held on Friday evenings and on Saturdays. This place of worship stands out because it combines the best of Gothic design and Byzantine styles, with its history tracing back to 1878.

Hillsong Church is also a notable place of worship n Sydney, with different campuses across the city. The Hillsong Church Kids is located at the church’s original campus and features services that are specifically designed for the young ones.

The Sydney Bahai House of Worship, sometimes referred to as Sydney Bahai Temple is located in Ingleside, one of the city’s northern suburbs. This glorious place of worship has been ranked as one of the city’s most significant religious buildings, so it is certainly worth visiting.

Other significant religious places include Christ Church St Lawrence that is best known for its remarkable choir, the New Apostolic Church, the auburn Gallipoli Mosque as well as the Murugan Temple.
