Cinema in the Park is an annual outdoor movie event held in the city of Ryde, which is less than half an hour away from Sydney by car. Various participating parks such as Anzac Park, Yamble Reserve, and Gannan Park set up inflatable screens and state-of-the-art sound and visuals for an excellent outdoor movie experience before the cold weather sets in.
The one-day event is usually held early in the year, and showcases popular films. Entry is completely free of charge for all patrons. Food trucks serving snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and light refreshments will be available at all venues. Previous movies shown included Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, Boss Baby, Pitch Perfect 2, and Minions. Over 2,500 people attend Cinema in the Park each year, making it one of Sydney’s most popular outdoor movie events of the year.
The parks offer street parking and are wheelchair accessible, although smoking is not permitted. Patrons are encouraged to bring bean bags, a picnic rug, or low chairs for comfort. It is recommended to arrive at 5PM or earlier to secure a good spot for the movies, which start around 6PM. Subtitles will be provided for the hearing impaired.
