Utopia Art Sydney

The Utopia Art Gallery is part of Sydney’s buzzing art scene; a fantastic gallery for art lovers interested in learning more about Aboriginal culture. The primary reason for this is the gallery mainly promotes Aboriginal artists from the northern area, with these artist working alongside non-indigenous artists.

Some of the notable names at the gallery include members of the Papunya Tula Artists, Marea Gazzard (the late), Helen Eager, as well as the founder of the gallery, the one Christopher Hodges.

Look out for Emily Kame Kngwarreye; one of the most popular artists whose indigenous works of art are showcased at the gallery. This equal representation of artists has made the gallery a popular destination for art lovers from Sydney and beyond.

Utopia Art Gallery was first opened in 1988 and has been home to many exhibitions over the years. In addition to different exhibitions, the gallery also hosts many art-related events, with regular events attracting people in their numbers.

There is also the option of shopping online by visiting the stockroom. This is a collection of works of art available for sale. The works of art are grouped according to the different artist to make it easier to shop; one of the best ways to support local talent while decorating your home.

Utopia Art Gallery is on Henderson Road in Alexandria in New South Wales. The gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 5 pm, with access to the gallery by car accessible from all directions owing to the gallery’s centralised location. Parking is available, but a number of the spots are time-restricted.

Bus route 308 stops at the gallery, while visitors arriving by train will take an easy 10-minute walk from the nearby Redfern Station.
