Shelly Beach

Shelly Beach is a scenic beach located in Manly, a popular suburb in Sydney, close to Fairy Bower and North Head. This makes it an ideal holiday spot for beach-goers looking for some tranquillity.

Shelly Beach stretches for about 100 metres – 100 metres of pristine sands and sweeping views.

Shelly Beach Manly, Restaurant, Accommodation, Parking & Snorkelling

One of its most popular features is its north-facing embayment that is inclusive of tiny twin beaches. The embayment, Cabbage Tree Bay, is a protected marine area. For this reason, the bay is a ‘no-take’ reserve, meaning that it is prohibited to take any of the creatures at this beach.

This bay area is a perfect place for scuba diving and snorkelling. The beach’s shallow depth makes it ideal for those looking to learn either, and it has excellent visibility and a great biodiversity of marine species.

For beach-goers who would instead enjoy a beach walk, Shelly Beach does not disappoint if its spectacular views are anything to go by. Take the bush track, which takes on the headland and rewards visitors with such magnificent views. Or enjoy a sunbake and wait until dusk to watch the last of the sun’s rays before it sets, creating a golden splash of orange hues on the evening sky.

It is interesting to note that the beach is popular with Sydney’s Brazilian community, and this means that on a good day, visitors can get a small glimpse of the community’s culture. Beachgoers sway and dance to the pulsating music and the rhythmic drumbeats that rent the air for a truly magical experience.

Shelly Beach has amenities such as showers, toilets, and a kiosk. This beach experience is incomplete without enjoying a BBQ, so use either of the two free electric BBQs. Look out for Le Kiosk, a restaurant that serves delicious meals. Paid parking is available at the beach, too.

Shelly Beach is half an hour from the Sydney CBD and five minutes from Manly.
