Manly Scenic Walkway

The Manly Scenic Walkway is one of Sydney’s best walking trails and a popular destination for bushwalkers and outdoor lovers. Also known as the Manly to Spit Bridge Walk, this walk makes for a great day’s activity while offering some of the most spectacular views across the city.

Weaving through the area’s natural biodiversity, the trail allows visitors to experience the bushland and the beautiful harbour along a stretch of ten kilometres.

The entire trail is made up of short trails that provide glimpses of Sydney’s most magnificent beaches and inlets. To cover the whole trail takes between 3 and 4 hours on average.

Start the adventure by taking a ferry to Manly. Make your way to Manly Wharf from where the trail takes you to Dobroyd Head; a beautiful location with several vantage points from where you can soak in the stunning views of the harbour. This is the perfect opportunity to view the Aboriginal rock engravings preserved at Grotto Point.

Spending some time here will make you appreciate the value of the indigenous community’s culture, and proves to be an eye-opening experience altogether. Don’t miss the opportunity to take photos from the fantastic Arabanoo Lookout point that promises sweeping views of the area.

Proceed to the Sydney Harbour National Park and then take a stroll on the shores of Clontarf Beach – you may even take a quick dip at Manly Beach. Depending on the time of your visit, you may get the chance to watch the migrating whales as they head down to the coast. Get your refreshments from any of the cafes and shops that dot the Manly Scenic Walkway.

For walkers who choose to begin the walk from the opposite end, take a bus from Sydney to Mosman and start at the Spit Bridge to end at Manly. Whatever direction you choose, the Manly Scenic Walkway is a pleasant way to enjoy bushwalking in Sydney.
