If you are looking for a laid-back day outside of the city centre, why not take a seat in one of the shaded areas and watch as the ferries pass by. At dusk, the Opera House lights up, creating a dazzling reflection on the water.
If you are fascinated by the history of some of Sydney’s attractions, you will undoubtedly love Dawes Point Cannons. Visitors can get a glimpse into the city’s rich colonial history, and by taking a walk around, you can’t help but marvel at the number of cannons that were used many years ago.
After a bit of exploration, why not treat yourself to a snack at any of the different eateries nearby. If you love a meal with a view, you’ll enjoy the cafes that line the harbourside of the walkway, in addition to the pubs and restaurants at The Rocks.
There are trash bins along the harbour, so make sure you discard your waste appropriately. Washrooms are found close to the point where George Street meets Lower Fort Street, just below the bridge.
Visitors are allowed to walk their dogs within the park, but dogs must always remain on a leash. While Hickson Road is a favourite for cyclists, there are no bike racks here, so owners should find an alternate way to secure their bicycles.
Hickson Road Reserve is easily accessible using Hickson Road and is a 20-minute walk from Circular Quay railway station.
