Gledswood Homestead & Winery, High Tea, History & Accommodation
The homestead was given as a gift to Chisholm’s son and a new wife who were descendants of the region’s farming pioneers, the Macarthurs. The homestead remained in the family’s hands all through to 1940. Today, the property boasts an Old Coach House, a cottage, as well as the homestead itself. All of these structures were built using local sandstone with labour from the convicts.
Gledswood Homestead is a preferred location for events and is also popular as a wedding venue. The homestead’s unique setting has a cask room complete with the unique polished floorboards and open-fire and a country room whose rustic finish and stunning views make for a memorable event.
If you choose a modern room, take on the Gledswood Room whose dance floor is polished and the bridal table raised for a truly magical ceremony. Choose from any of the flexible packages available to suit your budget and preferences. In addition to weddings, Gledswood is also ideal for functions; such as cocktails events, baby showers, bridal showers and business conferences.
Each month, the farm is open to the general public for the Gledswood Farm Day; a must-experience for an authentic farm experience near Sydney. The day starts in the mid-morning when guests are welcomed to the homestead by a stockman. You get to hear stories as you sip on some billy tea for an unforgettable day-trip. There are also farm activities; such as a working dog demo, sheep shearing, boomerang throwing and whip cracking.
Gledswood Homestead is at 900 Camden Valley Way, Catherine Field – with free parking available on site.
