Lane Cove

Lane Cove is an exclusive suburb in Sydney’s Lower North Shore, just nine kilometres from the CBD.

It is also the administrative centre of the Municipality of Lane Cove. It is important to note that Lane Cove West and Lane Cove North are distinct suburbs.

The suburb’s name is thought to have originated from the 19th century, as the land is located north of the river. Before the First Fleet arrived, the region was occupied by the Ku-ring-gai Aboriginal Tribe. It is fascinating to note that close to a fifth of the region’s land is recreational spaces. These include Tambourine Bay Park, Pottery Green, Tantallon Oval, and Burns Bay Park. These options are the perfect way to immerse yourself in an adventure in the wild. Enjoy a bushwalk in the beautiful oasis of Lane Cove National Park, or create the ideal waterfront picnic setting at Tambourine Bay Park. Stringybark Creek Reserve is also a chilled spot for picnicking and nature walks.

If you love history, you will appreciate the Carisbrook Historic House. This museum, the only one in Sydney, features a Victorian middle-class lifestyle. Take a tour of this museum and enjoy the fascinating commentary that furnishes you with information on different parts of the house. Wind up the tour with a walk along the banks of the river and soak in the tranquility of it.

Suzie’s Restaurant has you covered with excellent French cuisine. Alternatively, visit Le Simpatic O French Restaurant for a fantastic array of dishes. Sample fresh fish at Poseidon’s Catch Fish Cafe Restaurant, then enjoy a gastronomic trip to Italy at the Via Napoli Pizzeria.

As your tour of Lane Cove ends, visit the Massage Clinic to enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating massage. With great food, park reserves in the natural bushland and beautiful views, this suburb rarely disappoints for both locals and first-time visitors.
