Sydney Oktoberfest in the Gardens is coming again and is inspired by the love of the food, drink and culture of traditional Bavarian festivities.
The national Oktoberfest celebrations are held in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, and Sydney has the biggest and best Oktoberfest celebration in Australia.
Centred around good food, beer and traditional music, Oktoberfest is a cultural experience that is not to be missed. The food on offer is sure to excite and delight with something to suit everyone’s tastes. From mouth-watering pork knuckle, traditional sauerkraut, wiener schnitzels and an extensive range of Bratwurst, visitors are going to be spoiled for choice. Of course it is advised to come with and empty stomach!
An Oktoberfest event is not a true Bavarian celebration without beer! And at the Sydney event there will be multiple beer halls with a vast variety of Germany’s best beers available on tap. The best way to partake in the drinking festivities is with a traditional stein or sample a tasting board to find your favourite. Wine, cider and schnapps is also great for those who want to try other European drinks. Non-alcoholic drinks are also available around the event.
Aside from the food and drinks there is also plenty of entertainment to liven up the day. German entertainers, brass bands, yodellers and roving accordion players are performing throughout the festival so there is never a dull moment. For those who love to dress up, costumes are encouraged. Dress up in your finest dirndl or lederhosen and fit right in.
The 2018 Oktoberfest even will be held in the Domain, entry from Art Gallery Road. Public transport and responsible drinking is advised. Note that this is a 18+ only event.
