This setting provides an ideal background for art lovers to be engaged and learn more about local arts and culture in Australia. Part of the gallery’s core activities includes creating programs to display both historical and contemporary exhibitions.

The exhibitions held at the gallery change from time to time, but all embrace the need to showcase the diversity of local arts. Look out for the yearly Salon des Refuses exhibition put together by Archibald and Wynne Prizes. The Portia Geach Memorial Award is an incredible exhibition that is best known for its celebrated works by female artists.

There are many public programs held at the gallery. Depending on the time of your visit, Sunday afternoons at the Gallery are an incredible way to participate in the city’s cultural art scene. Note that public programs are free with exhibition entry. Visit the gallery on Tuesday at noon and enjoy a free introduction to the exhibition by staff at the gallery.

For groups, the Exhibition Tour is a fantastic way to explore the S.H. Ervin Gallery and its remarkable collections. This typically starts with a brief introduction to the gallery, followed by an insightful session of exploration. The tour lasts an hour and costs $15 with a minimum of 15 people and a maximum of 25 people for each group.

The Trust Cafe is a great place to grab some food and drink after your tour of the gallery. The gallery’s opening hours are from 11am to 5pm between Tuesday and Sunday. With prior arrangement, groups may make bookings for tours at 9.30am.

The gallery is fully accessible, with accessible washrooms and ramp access. The S.H. Ervin Gallery is a few minutes from the Sydney CBD.
