History has it that the laneway was a shortcut that provided access to the first hospital constructed in the colonial era. The Nurses Walk was established in 1979 to commemorate the nurses who worked in the area’s hospitals between 1788 and 1816.

These attractions include Cadman’s Cottage, which is amongst the city’s oldest buildings, as well as the Suez Canal that is home to great works of contemporary art.
Nurses Walk is located between George and Harrington Streets in The Rocks and entry is free.
