Leichhardt Oval is a favourite football stadium home to the Wests Tigers National Rugby League Team. With nearly 800 games hosted since the stadium’s first home game, it’s easy to see why this is a favourite.

For a stadium that hosted its first match back in 1934, Leichhardt Oval has undergone renovations over the years to modernise and maintain its functionality.

Today, the grounds remain a preferred location for rugby league, even though it hosts only four games yearly. Most of these matches are often close to capacity, and there is no better way to immerse yourself in the city’s sporting culture than to attend a National Rugby League (NRL) match. With a sitting capacity 20,000, this is a fantastic way to plug into the region’s sporting vibes.

Sporting facilities available at the stadium are suitable for rugby league, rugby union and soccer (football). The Leichhardt Oval is also available for hire, but bookings must be made well in advance.

General amenities provided include toilets, accessible washrooms, and change rooms. Additional facilities include a canteen that stocks snacks and refreshments during events and floodlights for nighttime events. Visitors must note that dogs are not allowed within the stadium.

Leichhardt Oval is located on Mary Street in Lilyfield and is easily accessible by bus route 444, tram or cab. For those who want to enjoy the sights and sounds of Sydney, a walk from the CBD to the stadium takes about an hour and a half.
