Fernside Skatepark

The Fernside Skatepark is a unique attraction in Sydney and the first full street-style skate plaza in the city. The park’s design was brought to life by local skaters to ensure its structure resulted in the best skatepark in the region.

The local skaters who designed the park sourced ideas globally to create a unique customised park that encompasses the best features from skateparks located around the world.

Fernside Skatepark Address, Hours & Facilities, Waterloo Sydney

Some of the features that make the park unique include the ledges, banks, blocks and stairs. There are several rails and a flat-bar for you to perfect your skills. What’s more, there is ample space for everyone to practise. Check out the mini-ramp, and if you are daring enough, go for the steep wall and fly-out to push your limits.

The perfectly smooth surface makes for an exhilarating experience. Add the even blocks to this, and it is easy to see why this is Sydney’s best skatepark. The park was constructed at the old site of the Fernside Ghetto Park, and as such, the mini ramp is a cut down of the original ramp located at the then-Fernside park.

Over the years, Fernside Skatepark has undergone renovations to ensure that the skate ramp is of the best quality and is safe to use for skateboarders of all ages. As such, there are periods where the park is closed for maintenance procedures that usually include repairing cracks and joints, as well as sealing and smoothing the surfaces.

Some of the facilities available at the park include 4-hour street parking located close to Pitt Street. After the adrenaline-packed skate adventure, nothing beats a tantalising meal at the Porcorosso cafe and restaurant nearby. Sample classic Sydney dishes or get a snack to keep you going. A drinking fountain is available, as are washrooms.

Fernside Skatepark is open to all age groups, making it a family friendly attraction for outdoor lovers. The park is located on Elizabeth Street in Waterloo and is easily accessible by private and public means.
