The Wingham Akoostik Music Festival is an annual three-day music festival held in Manning Valley at the NSW Mid Coast. Its objective is to promote the arts and create opportunities for learning while stimulating community involvement in all kinds of arts. The family-friendly event showcases a broad range of music, cultural experiences, and entertainment for all ages.
It takes place on October each year, ideal for its temperate climate. The event is well-attended by locals as well as visitors from other parts of Australia. The festival has been around since 2007, and has since been recognized with numerous awards and is now one of the country’s most popular music festivals.
The music festival has several highlights; aside from excellent music performances, it also features circus acts, choir entertainment, vinyl exhibitions and sales, rock and gem displays, yoga sessions, art lounge, and market stalls selling home-grown local products. Patrons of all ages are encouraged to join in on the many fun and interesting workshops that promote creativity and help you learn a new skill or two. Some of the workshops offered include song writing, drumming, guitar, percussion, African signing, mosaic art, vocal classes, building with sustainable wood, and much more. Exciting competitions and shows have also recently been added to the Wingham Akoostik Music Festival program of events. Due to the wide range of activities and entertainment, the festival has a broad appeal that makes it one of the region’s best family-friendly events. An extensive array of food, drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be on offer throughout the festival.
Famous Australian music legends have graced the stages in the past, including Kasey Chambers, Russell Morris, Ross Wilson, Black Sorrows, Shannon Noll, Grace Knight, and much more. The gates open at 9AM, and patrons camping are allowed to stay for 24 hours. The camp ground is located on the event venue itself, so there is no need for a vehicle to get around once you’re here, and it will be open for campers to stay after the festival has ended. Showers and toilets are available as well, free of charge. Alternatively, visitors may book lodging at Manning Valley, which has a great selection of accommodations.
