Video Junkee

Calling all video creators and video lovers from across the country! Video Junkee is a two-day festival held in July each year that celebrates video creativity and innovation.

Partnering with leading platforms like YouTube, Foxtel Now, Netflix, Buzzfeed and more, the Video Junkee festival will present a series of expos, talks, panels, screenings and awards.

Video enthusiasts are invited to come and hear from acclaimed and emerging Australian content creators for an informed discussion about all things do with video. The event will take place across three venues: the Carriageworks multi-arts centre in Eveleigh, the Dendy cinema at Newtown and the Golden Age Cinema in Surry Hills.

There will be several masterclasses on offer at Carriageworks to help aspiring content creators hone and develop their craft. Attendees will also get an insight into what types of videos will dominate future Australians screens. A stellar line-up of creators will also be on hand to hand to share their tips. It’s an exciting two days bursting with creativity and talent. Check the Video Junkee program for details of events and activities.

This event is sure to appeal to a wide range of people. From TV addicts to filmmakers and creators, everyone will learn something from it. Come and witness the next generation of video at the Video Junkee Festival and celebrate the power of storytelling.

Eveleigh (where the Carriageworks hub of the Video Junkee festival is located)  is a suburb that’s about five kilometres south-west of the CBD via the Western Distributor/A4. You can also catch public transport via the train service. Macdonaldtown is the nearest station on the Main Suburban Line. From there, it’s just a short ten-minute walk.
Video Junkee is a festival dedicated to all video enthusiasts, including creators. It’s a platform that provides a peek into videos that have been screened in Australia in the past, as well as those we can look forward to in the future.

The event has partnered with some of the biggest names in media, such as Foxtel, Netflix, YouTube Red, ABC iview, BuzzFeed, and much more. Both Australian and international producers of various kinds of in-demand video content gather during the festival to celebrate and explore the talent and creativity of video. The festival typically lasts for two days, and during this time there are dozens of video-centred activities on the program of events.

Festival highlights include an impressive line-up of speakers, screenings, master classes, panels, and other event announcements. Emerging and established content creators from Australia and abroad will be featured. The screening schedule is announced a few weeks before the event.

Video Junkee takes place at Carriageworks in Redfern. Individual and multi-pass tickets are available. Patrons under the age of 15 should attend with an adult guardian; a photo ID will be required for all bars in Carriageworks. If you are driving to Carriageworks, parking is available in the nearby streets. Alternatively, the venue can easily be reached via taxi, train, or ferry.
