The Taste of Coogee is a two-day annual weekend event held at Coogee Oval in early September.
It’s the perfect way to kick off the spring season and the Sunday when it’s held each year coincides with Father’s Day.
The weekend showcases food and beverages from Australia’s best restaurants, vineyards and boutique breweries. It also provides an opportunity for local cafes and delicatessens to show their wares. Coogee Oval is an ideal spot to enjoy the festival’s great food, beer and wine. It overlooks the iconic Coogee Beach, so you can take in the views while you explore the food and beverages that are on display. There’s plenty of wine and beer-tasting activities and cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs during the two days of the festival, as well as live performances by musical acts to help create a vibrant atmosphere.
Best of all, entry to the festival is free! But make sure you take your wallet or purse because you’ll want to sample the great food and beverages that are on offer from the festival’s huge range of stalls.
The Taste of Coogee Food and Wine Festival is an ideal family day out, with carnival rides and the open spaces of the oval guaranteed to keep the kids amused. And of course, you can duck off to the beach and come back at any time.
Coogee is a suburb located about 8 kilometres south-east of the Sydney CBD. You can get there via the M1 and Alison Road, or you can catch public transport (regular bus and train services are available). The nearest train station is Museum station on the City Circle line.
