The Sydney SuperSprint is an annual motor racing event which specifically caters to super cars. Formally known as the Red Rooster Sydney SuperSprint, the event takes place from Friday to Sunday every August. It has long been part of the Supercars Championship as well as its related events including the Shell Championship Series, the V8 Supercars Championship and the Australian Touring Car Championship.
The format features two practice sessions an hour long, which are staged on Fridays followed by 15-minute practice sessions on Saturday. The 15-minute qualifying sessions also take place on Saturday, and the results of these dictate the grid positions for the 120 kilometre race. On Sunday, a 20-minute qualifying session is held to decide the grid for the 200 kilometre race.
Spectators may purchase the event program for just $10 at the program stall and the upgrade box office. First aid will be provided, just look for the Medical Centre located behind the Pit. Several food and drink outlets will be located throughout the venue, although patrons will be permitted to bring in small amounts of food and drink provided that it’s only for personal consumption. However, take note that glass and alcohol will not be permitted into the park. Alcoholic beverages will be sold from licensed outlets as well.
The Sydney SupersSprint takes place at the Sydney Motorsport Park, which is located around 40 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD. The main entrance is found on Gate A, just off Ferrers Road. Internal buses will be servicing patrons for free as long as you have an event ticket, for both Friday and Saturday from 9:30 AM to 7PM. Car park shuttle buses are free with the event ticket on Saturday, while the Blacktown Train Station Shuttle Bus, also free, will operate every hour on Saturday and Sunday from 9AM. Free parking is provided at the Sydney Motorsport Park although it’s subject to availability.
