The Sydney Guitar Festival is an August event held that features some of the best known Australian and international guitarists.
They will showcase their amazing skills and great music in a series of concert performances held over ten days.
Whatever your musical taste, there’s bound to be something to suit from the diverse range of performers appearing during the Sydney Guitar Festival. From classical to blues, acoustic to rock, there will be something for everybody to see and enjoy.
Here are just some of the performers that will appear in 2018: Australia’s own Tommy and Phil Emmanuel (displaying their amazing fingerstyle technique), classical guitarists the Grigoryan Brothers, singer-songwriter Daniel Champagne, American Kaki King, the Beijing Guitar Duo, and the UK’s Grammy Award-winning Albert Lee. Lee will be accompanied by a 9-piece outfit to play top-shelf blues, country and western swing music.
There will also be a 2018 tribute show for guitar legend Jimi Hendrix that’s aptly named ‘Purple Haze’. It will feature the songs he made famous and various performers attempting to emulate his amazing guitar skills.
Performances will be held at a variety of Sydney suburban venues including the Enmore Theatre (Newtown), the Concourse (Chatswood) and the Factory Theatre (Marrickville). Make sure you check the festival program, so you can book tickets for the performers you want to see. Tickets are available via Ticketek and prices vary depending on the performer.
Each of the concert venues are easily accessible via car or public transport (buses or trains). However, if you do want to drive, street parking is limited near the venues. You’ll have to pay for commercial car parks that are either onsite or relatively close to each venue.
