The Surry Hills Festival is a bold exhibition of art, colour and performance that celebrates the vast talents of locals in the Surrey Hills and nearby regions.
The festival has been running since the late 60’s and has always played a role in connecting the community and showcasing the creativity within the area.
Entry to the festival is by donation from visitors. The funds raised on the day through festival sponsors, partners, volunteers and donations go back into the community. The funds raised help support the Surrey Hills community programs in particular, creative programs servicing needs of people with low income as well as marginalised groups including the elderly, homeless, people with mental illness and people from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
The community programs also hosts family including children’s activities that promote art, film, dance, performance and cooking programs for all ages. The 2018 festival program will present a range of exhibitions and entertainment for locals and visitors to the event.
The festival presents a great opportunity for musicians in the area to show their talents and for the visitors to enjoy the entertainment on offer. Bands, musicians, DJ’s and video makers will be performing at various times during the event. It is a great way to see the local talent.
The Surrey Hills festival also represents the areas creative artist and craft makers, with exhibitions, workshops, activities and a variety of stalls for visitors to purchase and experience a part of the local art culture.
