The Shoalhaven Coast Winter Wine Festival is an annual three-day event showcasing the best of the Shoalhaven region’s premium wines with tastings, fine food, and entertainment. The wineries and cellars throughout the region welcome everyone to sample wines and indulge in long lunches, educational wine talks, art exhibits, barbecues, vineyard tours, and much more.
The Shoalhaven Coast wine region stretches from Kiama to Durras in New South Wales, and the area has gained increasing popularity for the quality of wines produced especially over the last two decades. The wine trails in the region are also among the most picturesque, as they overlook some of Australia’s best beaches. The event is a great opportunity for attendees to meet wine makers and learn about the growing methods that go into one of the country’s most well-loved drinks. Shoalhaven produces a wide range of wine varieties including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, and Semillon. New varieties have also been planted at vineyards throughout the region, which will be available for tasting during the event. Some new grape varieties to look out for include Tempranillo, Viognier, Arneis, Tannat, and Sangiovese.
Anyone who enjoys wine will appreciate the Shoalhaven Coast Winter Wine Festival, a region that has been been given over 1,000 international and local wine awards. Entrance fees are just around $10, which is paid at the first winery visited. The payment includes a festival glass. Cellar doors will be open from 10AM to 5PM during the festival. For getting around, shuttle bus services will be available.
