The Hunter Valley Uncorked Avalon is an annual event showcasing the best of Australia’s oldest and most renowned wine region. The one-day festival features over 20 wineries hailing from Hunter Valley, plus gourmet food that has been carefully curated to enhance the local wine experience.
Visitors are encouraged to make their way through the many stalls and sample as much good food and wine as possible. Food vendors will be selling oysters, cheese, seafood, pastries, Italian seafood and more. Tickets cost $45 and this is inclusive of a glass of Riedel, a wine flight, and some food. Tasting vouchers for both wine and food will be available, but if you’d rather skip the lines, the vouchers may be purchased online.
Aside from all the food, wine master classes and wine tastings will also be held, conducted by some of the region’s most established wine producers. Learn a thing or two about classic favourites such as shiraz and chardonnay, as well as special varieties that are grown in the Hunter region. Restaurateurs and staff can join in trade workshops that are designed to impart specialized knowledge on Hunter Valley wine varieties. If wine isn’t your thing, there will be locally-made craft beers available too.
Hunter Valley Uncorked Avalon is a full day event, starting at 10:30 AM to 5PM. The events take place at The Village Green in Dunbar Park, Hunter Valley. There are various routes you can take to Hunter Valley from Sydney, but bus and train transport is available too.
